Briefing

For the bachelor end project we had to design a photo booth which had to be able to take and print a photograph, valid for documents like passports and driver's licenses.

Intro

The product will be placed in public spaces, such as shopping malls and train stations. Because these places are so crowded, the user must be able to hide behind panels to ensure their privacy.

Also because these places are public, the photo booth needs to be well protected against vandalism.

Exploration

I made several mood boards to guide me in my design process. I made mood boards for design language, target group and setting.

Target group

The product will focus on people in the age bracket from 18 to 30 years old. This target group is supposed to be less technology averse. Therefore they will be more capable of using and understanding a smartphone.

Interface

Controlling the device will be via an application on the user's smartphone. Because the user is using their own smartphone, they won't feel like they need to learn a new operating system. Therefore they feel less disconnected with the photo booth.

Dimensions

The measurements of the product are based on the ergonomic values, corresponding with the target group. The source of these values is DINED. A website with the ergonomic values of the population of the Netherlands.

Branding

In a logo, it's important to keep it simple, yet recognizable. The logo is an abstract visualization of a facing camera lens.
