I wanted to create a visually strong project for my portfolio. I'm also a big fan of car design so I came up with the idea to combine an ordinary product with a car brand.
Intro
I chose MINI and a kitchen blender for this exercise. MINI has a distinctive design language with a beautiful legacy. A kitchen blender is a simple product which leaves me with a lot of freedom to work with.
Exploration
First, I roughly sketched out the Mini from different angels.This helped me to get a feeling for the proportions.
I also made several mood boards for: brand identity, design language and legacy.
Ideation
I've sketched a bunch of blenders with design elements from the Mini. I tried out different combinations but eventually I designed the product while modeling in Solidworks.
Renders
I've made a physical environment with emissive lights in Keyshot to perfectly control the amount of light in the scene.
